What is Beta HCG (Female) blood test?
HCG refers to the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a hormone that is produced by the placenta during pregnancy. A qualitative HCG blood test detects the presence of this hormone in your blood, while a quantitative HCG or Beta HCG blood test checks for its specific levels.
Quantitative hCG testing, often called beta hCG (β-hCG), measures the amount of hCG present in the blood. It may be used to: Confirm a pregnancy. Help diagnose an ectopic pregnancy, along with a progesterone test.
